It is really easy to update your Facebook and Twitter status with Siri by sending an e-mail or text message.

If you have already entered your mobile number in your information, it will show you a button ‘Activate Text Messaging’. siri-update facebook-mobile

It will ask you to re-enter your password for security reasons. The next step will ask you to send a message and then it will respond a Confirmation Code on your mobile number. Enter that code in the box, and Confirm. Text messaging is activated.

Similarly, post-by-email address is the email address that enables you to upload your photos, videos and update status to your account. You must be thinking now from where to find this post-by-email address. As described by the Facebook Help Centre, you can get your post by email address by following these steps:

· From your mobile browser, log in on m.facebook.com

· Click Photo under the space to type a status update

· Underneath “Upload via Email” you’ll see a unique email address

However, when I activated my Text Messaging services it displayed some information including the post by email address as you can see in the snapshot. You may need to refresh it, to see your email address. Save this e-mail address for later use.

Create Contact as ‘Facebook’:

This is a fairly easy trick to send messages or e-mails to Facebook. How do you send e-mail or text messages to your friends, family members or other contacts? You have only saved their mobile numbers and e-mail addresses in the contact list with their names. Whenever you want to contact anyone, you ask Siri (let’s say); “Text Jones that I will be there in an hour”. Siri finds out Jones in your contact list and send message to his number. In the same manner, you can store ‘Facebook ‘as your contact i.e.

Create a new contact

Set the name as ‘Facebook’

Edit its e-mail address (This email address is provided by Facebook).

Edit its mobile number.

Me: Email Facebook.

Siri : What’s the subject of the e-mail?

Me: Status Update from Siri.

Siri: Ok. What would you like the Email to say?

Me: I have just come across a new Siri tip and I am checking it.

Siri: Here’s the email message to Facebook (Siri will show you the message).Do you need to send it?

Me: Yes.

Siri: Ok, I’ll send it.

Me: Thank you Siri.

Your facebook status is updated and it will display as ‘Share via email’. Similarly, you can update your status using text messages.

Managing Multiple Accounts:

Sometimes it happens that any two or more of your contacts have the same first name. If you say ‘Text James”; Siri will respond that she has found two contacts with the name James, James Clark and James John. She will then ask who you want to message. You can use this option to manage multiple facebook accounts by adding them in the contact list with different names as ‘Facebook Personal’, ‘Facebook wife’ and etc. Now ‘Facebook personal’ will have your account details (e-mail address and mobile number) and ‘Facebook wife’ will contain your wife’s email address and mobile number. So you can update your or your partner’s Facebook from your iPhone4s.

These tricks are also applicable to Twitter accounts. This is all for today; apply these simple tricks and enjoy updating your status easily via your iPhone4s.
