Some other applications like VoiceOver are also under process to assist blind or low-vision users. PassBook, Remodeled Store, Maps, FaceTime, Facebook integration, sharing photo streams and the faster webkit are just to name a few features of iOS6.We will see each of them one by one in detail. So, get ready to enjoy the iOS6 tour.
1- Maps App:
Apple has completely revolutionized the concept of ‘Maps’. It is no longer a plain lifeless image that shows you
the roads, highways, underpasses, or routes to important buildings and places but is indeed, the most powerful mapping service ever. You really do not need to visit any city personally because now you can roam around through this maps app. Maps are more interactive now to direct you turn by turn. Ask your digital assistant Siri to take you to your favorite restaurant and it will guide you to your place. You can also have a 3D view of the road; large signs and arrows are superimposed to further clarify the view. This app is intelligent enough to keep a track of your turn and speaks up immediately to direct you. It also changes the camera angle dynamically to help you find out where you wanted to go. Your ETA is updated and re-routes you whenever you miss a turn. Interested to explore any specific route or area? Just tap (or click) and zoom in smoothly enjoying the vector based engine that keeps text crisp and graphics clear. Maps app records the street name and other information so you don’t need to fear losing your way. What else do you need? Traffic information of the road ahead? As per Apple’s claim this app can get real time traffic information to calculate ETA and can update you with the details about traffic’s mess ahead.
2- Facebook integration—Like it?
Facebook and Apple have joined hands together to kick out their competitors. Facebook is so heavily integrated in iOS6 as if it is a networking service owned by Apple. Although both the giants have seen their profits and they will be having a more dominating authority but the users will definitely enjoy the integration. All you need to do is to sign in once and Like it! You are no more supposed to leave your app or work, switch to your Facebook account and upload your favorite song or photo. You can share them now right from your Photos or ask Siri to do it for you. The Like button is now part of iTunes and the App Store. Not only this, but your contacts’ information is also integrated into contacts and their birthdays will be synchronized in the Calendar. So you won’t miss anyone’s birthday or any other meet-up. Oh yes, you definitely have their email addresses if you want to email them or their phone numbers if you want to call them. And there’s a lot more fun you can have from this handshake but we should move on to next app now.
3- Passbook in iOS6:
Well, it’s a new build in app introduced by iOS6.This Passbook is your card organizer, be it your boarding card, movie card, gift card or any other coupon.
You must be thinking now why has Apple introduced i-version of the plastic cards and why are we calling it an organizer. Passbook’s user interface is card like interface that is updated as soon as it receives information from its geological feature. For example, if you are at the airport it will automatically pull your boarding pass for you. This app features cards with scannable barcodes. You can scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight and the tickets are shown on your Lock screen whenever you need them. You are also informed on your i-gadget even if the gate changes and assures you are at the right terminal. You can also redeem your coupon or get information when it is about to expire. You do not need to miss a movie again because Passbook will help you get a movie pass and locate your seats .You can enjoy all these because Passbook is time and location enabled i.e. geological capable. This app is Apple’s first small step in the mobile payment system and the available options are also limited .We do not know what could be the exact aim behind the launch of this app but there is one thing for sure, there is a big surprise and ease for users and of course, a threat to competitors.
Hopefully you have enjoyed this innovative tour and must be tired now. Time to take a break now; we will continue our discussion in next posts. Allow us to sign off now so that we can have some interesting stuff for the next meet up. Till then; Stay i-tuned! Stay blessed!
