iPad at Work:For BusinessMen

Apple’s iPad has definitely abridged the gap between the laptops and the smartphones as wished by the legendary Steve Jobs.  iPad comes with a number of built-in apps but today we will talk about the iPad’s applications that should be intelligently used by businessmen to make proper use of the iPad in their hands.   Although, these applications are simple but I have personally experienced that, mostly, businessmen are less technical.  They want things to be simple and ready at service.   The purpose of this post is to highlight those features of iPad which are not justly used and help you use your iPad at work.  This is helpful for those who do not like any personal assistant but still prefer their work to be organized and accurate.  You can definitely use your iPad to work as your digital assistant.  Follow up!

1-Mail and Face Time :

I remember, one of  my college teachers used to emphasize that if you had an important business with someone, meet him/her personally and communicate face to face.  Now I realize the importance of this in person meeting; when I have gone through various books of communication skills.  When you are making an important conversation with someone, it is very important to read his responses communicated in the form of words or facial expressions and make your next statement accordingly.  Who else understands this more other than businessmen who make frequent deals? Relax !  Face Time application is developed to arrange a virtual meeting which will save you time as you can meet anyone right at your place.  The interesting news is; iPad lets you switch between iSight camera at the back or the FaceTime camera which is in front.  This means that your friend can not only see you, but he/she can also see what you see.  Sometimes, you need to send any official document only which can be seen by the recipient at his/her ease.  You would not appreciate Face Time this time, rather you would prefer to use the ‘Mail’ application.  You can enjoy sending and receiving e-mails as Apple has these built-in communication applications in iPad.  The smart keyboard suggest words, corrects spellings and inserts punctuation.  You can flick through your inbox and tap to view the attachments.  Enjoy the landscape view and pinch to zoom in.

2-Maps :

This is a smart-phone feature and helps you locate yourself and takes you to your destination without fear of loosing your way.  If you are businessman, you certainly have to travel a lot.  You have to pass through many places which may be unfamiliar to you and you would definitely need a guide.  Apple has taken care of this need and you don’t have to worry hiring different guides and bother about the language issues.  All you need to do is to open the “Maps” application which is built in your iPad and enjoy the navigational details right in your car without the need of a third person. ”Google Search” is also available and you can make use of it as well.

3-Newsstand  :

Every business man loves to read the newspaper along with his breakfast.  It is indeed the demand of their work to stay updated with the news all the time.  Almost everyone prefers to receive a newspaper delivered at his door in the morning.  Similarly,  you can subscribe for newspapers and magazines through this application.  It is basically a folder that allows instant access to your favorite publications.  Newsstand automatically updates the newer issues in the background so as not to interrupt your reading.  Just tap the Store button and the Newsstand section of the App Store, it opens to entertain you with the updates through your iPad at yout workplace.

4-Calendar and Reminders :

This is very basic feature that is present in almost all cellular phones.  The basic purpose of calendar is obvious; to keep you informed of the current date, day and month.  You can now take a step ahead and set your schedules at specific dates.  You can mark your upcoming meetings, anniversaries, celebrations or any other events that are important.  All  you need to do is to select a date, name the event and select the venue, and then set an alarm.  You don’t need any secretary to tell your daily meet-ups; set reminders once and they themselves will remind you of your schedule as per your specification.

5-Contacts and Social Networking :

Contacts is a feature of cellular phone and social networking is the essence of world wide web,  mostly used through personal computers or laptops.  Social networking is the key of success that is used effectively by every successful businessman. You need to maintain a contact list so that you can easily contact the right person at the time of need without wasting your precious time.  It is not only the mobile numbers that you need about them, further details are also needed like e-mail addresses, home address, company name and office number etc .  The  point I want to raise here is that you can use these email addresses and stay in touch with the people in your network through social networking applications like facebook, Google plus, iChat, twitter.  Some other applications are also available which include yahoo and windows live messengers; other than these you can also send and receive messages in the same manner as you do in your cellular phones.

6-Notes :

This simple feature works as your notebook which is always available at your service.  You may come across any new tagline for your brand, any important issue that is to be discussed with your partner or you may surprisingly get your new advertisement campaign theme.  Whenever any idea or thought struck your mind, jot it down in the notes application and look at it when you are free.  Do not take it childish, this will help organize your life and thoughts.  Sometimes, random thoughts are worth consideration and this is where you find  iPad helpful at work.
