In our previous post, we have talked about how to set reminders with Siri. We would, therefore, recommend you to go through that post also as both the topics are interconnected. Today, we will see how to modify existing reminders with Siri or overwriting them with new reminders. We will also have fun with the Google Maps app along with Siri. Shall we begin?
Modify,Add and Delete Reminders:
If you ask Siri to set a reminder at some time and there’s already a pre-defined event, Siri will let you know.
She will tell you the details about the existing event or reminder. She will then ask you, if you want to overwrite it, delete it or modify it.
Me: Remind me to start working on the proposal by 1:00 P.M today
Siri: You have a lunch at 1:00 P.M with Mr. Jacob today. Do you want me to overwrite it?
Me: Oh, okay Siri change the lunch time to 2:00 P.M and inform Mr. Jacob through text message that the time is changed to 2:00 P.M. Also, set the proposal reminder at 1:00 P.M.
Note that we have issued three commands to Siri in a single response. Siri will carefully manage them all. She will change the reminder settings for time of lunch to 2:00 P.M. She needs to add a new reminder about proposal at 1:00 P.M. Siri will then send a message to Mr. Jacob to inform him about the new timings. Siri does all three tasks for you and you are relieved from switching windows and making the changes manually. Quite relaxing, isn’t it?
Set Location Based Reminders with Siri:
Now, I have got something interesting in my mind. We have been setting reminders on specific events, dates and times. How about setting and updating them while you’re on the move.
Say: Remind me to stop at the XYZ Bakers next to the City Bank on my way.
How will Siri process this request? Of course, she will set a reminder to stop at the Bakery but there is no time specified. She will make use of Maps App and will keep a track of your movement. As soon as you reach XYZ Bakers or City Bank it will prompt you to stop. Note that your location must be in your contact list.
Follow up to find how to set location based reminders:
- Set a reminder ,say, remind me to buy gift for my little angel.
- Now, you need to clarify from which Gift Shop do you want to buy gift item.
- Open the maps app.
- Drop the pin at that location/gift shop.
- Maps App will display its address.
- Save location address.
- Name it as Gift Shop and save in contact list
- Go back to Reminders.
- Select your reminder ‘Buy gift item for my little angel’
- You have two options :
- On a day
- On a location (Turn it on)
- It will provide you with two options :
- Current address
- Choose address (Select it)
- Choose Gift Shop from contact list.
